Waste charge protestors in north Co Dublin are continuing their campaign, despite a High Court injunction.

Bin lorries have been blocked in Santry, Kinsealy and River Valley in Swords.

Socialist Party TD Joe Higgins and Socialist Party councillor Clare Daly have been leading the campaign.

They are due before the High Court tomorrow morning when Fingal Co Council will seek to have them jailed or fined for breaching court orders.

It comes as Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co Council issues letters this week, to 30% of householders in the county who owe waste charges of more than €200.

They will be given ten days to pay what they owe before the council discontinues their waste collection service.

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council charges €275 per year for waste collection - the highest charge in Dublin.
