The Palestinian Prime Minister, Mahmoud Abbas, has vowed to continue efforts to halt a new cycle of violence and to return to the implementation of the 'road map' for peace.
In a speech to the Palestinian parliament, Mr Abbas blamed Israel for a lack of progress in peace moves.
He said that the United States had done too little to restrain the Israeli army.
Mr Abbas also urged parliament to show its support for him, or else to revoke his mandate.
