The family of murdered Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane have repeated their call for a full public judicial enquiry into his death.

Speaking following a meeting with the Taoiseach, Mr Finucane's widow Geraldine said that Mr Ahern expressed his full and continuing support.

She said that the family believed that any enquiry would need to have the power to suspena witnesses.

She adds that the Taoiseach agreed that any enquiry would need to meet the needs of the family.

Pat Finucane was shot at his home in North Belfast in February 1989.

There has been constant speculation that the North's security forces colluded with the loyalist paramilitaries who carried out the shooting.

The meeting came ahead of a report by Canadian judge Peter Cory into allegations of collusion by the security forces.

It is thought that the Judge will reveal next month if he believes the Finucane case needs a full judicial inquiry.
