Beaumont Hospital has denied that it is closing the waiting list for diabetes patients because of a 14-month waiting list for treatment.

Beaumont Hospital has denied that it is closing the waiting list for diabetes patients because of a 14-month waiting list for treatment.

In a statement, the hospital said it was just one of many options being considered by the hospital but that no decision had yet been taken.

Earlier, a consultant endocrinologist at Beaumont, Dr Chris Thompson, said he did not have the resources to take on new patients, even though the number of diabetes sufferers is expected to double by 2004.
