It has been confirmed that plans to build a new national meat and bone incinerator are to go ahead at Ferbane in Co Offaly despite local opposition.
Combined Energy Technology, the company behind the project, intends to burn bone meal from all nine of the country's existing rendering plants and to create up to 50 long-term jobs.
However, local residents are objecting to the development on health and safety grounds.
