The Orange Order's annual march to Drumcree church in Portadown, Co Armagh, has passed off peacefully.

A large security operation was in place although police had hoped to maintain a low-key presence in the area today.

The Orangemen handed a letter of protest to a police chief superintendent at the barrier, preventing the parade from going down the Garvaghy Road.

There was no repeat of last year's clashes at the barrier.

The Parades Commission ruled the parade must use an alternative route after the Garvaghy Road residents objected to the march.
