A senior Iranian official has said that the head of the UN's nuclear watchdog will soon be invited to the Islamic Republic for talks.

A senior Iranian official has said that the head of the UN's nuclear watchdog, Mohamed ElBaradei, would soon be invited to the Islamic Republic for talks aimed at solving 'technical problems' between Iran and the IAEA.

Issues were raised by the International Atomic Energy Agency in a June report by Mr ElBaradei, which said Iran had made violations of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty.

The Iranian official was quoted as telling the visiting British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, that, 'these technical problems should not be used as an excuse by the United States to make hostile acts against Iran'.

'Iran will soon invite ElBaradei to Iran for talks aimed at removing these technical problems,' he said, adding that Iran was 'ready to abide by its nuclear obligations with full transparency'.
