An Post workers whose unofficial industrial action closed post offices around the country are expected to return to work tomorrow.

The GPO in Dublin city centre remained closed today, as well as post offices in Cork, Macroom, Youghal, Cobh, Limerick, Shannon Town, Castleblaney and Ballinrobe.

An Post described it as a wildcat strike, and warned that workers who failed to work today would lose a day's pay.

However the General Secretary of the Communications Workers Union, Con Scanlon, said the union would have diffiuclty accepting any discipliniary action against members in circumstances where An Post had provoked the stoppage.
