Two of them will serve at the operational headquarters in Paris of the multinational force.
The others will serve at the tactical unit at Entebbe in Uganda - and will deploy to Bunia in the DRC when conditions permit.
Two other unarmed military observers from the Defence Forces are already stationed in the DRC.
Earlier this week, there was disappointment for the army when it was announced that members of the ranger wing had not been requested to serve with the peacekeeping mission.
The Minister for Defence Michael Smith had earlier said there was a possibility that about 40 rangers might be asked to serve in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
