Two Palestinians killed in West Bank

watch

Two Palestinian men were shot dead by Israeli troops in the West Bank this morning when the troops opened fire on stone-throwing youths.

Osama Hamdulla, 24, and Fakr Ezzet, 18, were shot by troops in two army jeeps who entered the village of Qurawat Bani Zeid, 12 km northwest of Ramallah.

A suspected Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up at an Israeli train station earlier, killing one other person and injuring 12 others.

It was the first such attack inside Israel in nearly a month and came after an agreement was reached on the formation of a new Palestinian cabinet, paving the way for the publication of a US-led plan for Middle East peace moves.

The explosion during morning rush hour sprayed blood and body parts across steps at the entrance to the station in the central Israeli town of Kfar Saba, which lies close to the dividing line between Israel and the West Bank.

The bomber apparently detonated the explosives when a security guard prevented him from entering the station.

Medics said the explosion killed the bomber and at least one other person and at least two of the injured were in serious condition.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the bombing.
