Cyclist in serious condition after Dublin assault

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was assaulted by a group of men in Dublin city centre in the early hours of this morning.

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was assaulted by a group of men in Dublin city centre in the early hours of this morning.

The man, who is in his thirties, was cycling in the Grafton Street area between 1.30 and 2.30am this morning when he fell off his bike into the group of men.

They proceeded to attack him and he was unconscious by the time emergency services arrived at the scene.

He was brought to St. James' Hospital.

Gardaí have sealed off the scene of the assault and they are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and who may be able to assist them to come forward.
