Gardaí in Shankill, Co Dublin, are investigating the abduction of a 38-year-old man from the Rathmichael Road shortly after midnight this morning.
The man, Michael Moran, from the Drumcairne area of Tallaght, is reported to have been forced into a transit-type van and driven away.
Mr Moran is 6ft 1ins tall, of broad build, and when last seen was wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans and a red shirt with a blue stripe.
A number of searches have been carried out as the incident is investigated.
