Air Algérie crash: investigation ongoing

More details are emerging about the Algerian plane that crashed yesterday deep in the Sahara desert, killing 103 passengers and crew.

An Algerian government spokesman said that an engine on the Air Algérie plane had caught fire on take-off, but he said further investigations were needed to determine the precise cause of the accident.

It was the worst air accident in Algeria since the North African country gained independence from France 41 years ago.
