Loughrey stands over GSM selection process

A former senior civil servant in the Department of Communications has told the Moriarty Tribunal that he totally stands over the integrity of the process which selected the country's second mobile phone licence.

John Loughrey was facing cross-examination on his ninth and final day in the witness box at the Tribunal.

The retired former Secretary of the Department of Communications told Rossa Fanning, counsel of the former Communications Minister Michael Lowry, he totally stood over the GSM selection process.

Mr Loughrey has now concluded his evidence.

The Tribunal is now hearing evidence from another retired civil servant, Mr Sean Fitzgerald.
