Police in the North have arrested 70 people in a drink-driving clampdown over the weekend.

Police in the North have arrested 70 people in a drink-driving clampdown over the weekend.

The clampdown, codenamed Operation Viper, is designed to counteract the four main causes of accidents - drink-driving, speeding, non wearing of seat belts, and careless or reckless driving.

28 people have died on the North's roads this year compared to 16 in the same period last year.
