Frank Dunlop Claims Cosgrave was paid £5,000
The Flood Tribunal has heard that former Fine Gael Senator Liam Cosgrave was paid £5,000 in 1997 to support re-zoning motions for land in Carrickmines.
The former lobbyist, Frank Dunlop, had already told the Tribunal that he paid Councillor Cosgrave £2,000 in 1991.
Mr Dunlop, who resumed his evidence at the Tribunal today, said that when further attempts were made to re-zone the land in 1997, Councillor Cosgrave asked for £5,000.
Mr Dunlop said he paid this in two tranches of £2,500. Mr Cosgrave denies the claims.
Mr Dunlop said Councillor Tony Fox was also paid £5,000 in 1997 for the same purpose.
Earlier, Mr Dunlop was questioned about his contacts with the businessman Jim Kennedy, who he claims hired him to bribe councillors to support land re-zoning in the 1990s.
He has told the Tribunal that he believed former Fianna Fáil TD Liam Lawlor was engaged in developing a strategy with Mr Kennedy to have the line of the south eastern motorway determined to the benefit of Paisley Park.
Mr Dunlop said he believed Mr Lawlor may have drawn up a motion for submission to Dublin County Council by other councillors. The motion was unsuccessful.
