Gardaí arrested an average of 34 people a day on suspicion of drink driving during the annual six-week Christmas and New Year Road Safety Campaign.
Gardaí arrested an average of 34 people a day on suspicion of drink driving during the annual six-week Christmas and New Year Road Safety Campaign.
During the campaign, which began on 25 November and ended on 5 January, 1,449 were detained for drink driving.
This is an increase of 17% on the number detained during the previous campaign.
