No agreement at Aer Lingus LRC talks

Talks at the Labour Relations Commission between Aer Lingus unions and management have broken up without any agreement on the interpretation of the company's pension plan.

Both sides now want the Pensions Board to examine the scheme to determine if it is a defined benefit scheme which gives a guaranteed payout on retirement.

In Aer Lingus' latest annual report the scheme is described as a 'target benefit' scheme, in order the company says, to comply with new accounting rules.
