The National Museum has put on display 800 priceless artefacts recovered by the Garda arts and antiques unit from a number of homes in Tipperary.

They were recovered from a former wildlife ranger with Duchas, the heritage service, who had found them using a metal detector.

68-year-old Anthony Molloy and his son Kevin have been both convicted at Birr District Court of the illegal possession of archaeological artefacts and were given the Probation Act.
