Gardai in Kilkenny have begun a murder investigation following the discovery of a woman's body in a house in the city this evening.
The woman, who was found dead in a house in Kikenny this evening is believed to have had extensive injuries to her head and body.
Her name has not yet been released but she was a 36-year-old mother of two.
Gardai have launched an inquiry into the death and will decide later tonight or in the morning whether the status of the investigation is to be upgraded.
