The Garda Commissioner, Pat Byrne, has re-iterated that the Garda had no prior knowledge of the Omagh bombing and had no information that would have enabled them to prevent it.
Mr Byrne said he knew exactly what had happened at that time. He also said he was annoyed that the issue kept coming up.
He said he believed it would be dealt with in time. The Commissioner was speaking at the first ever GAA match between a PSNI team and the Gardaí, in Dublin.
The Minister for Justice Michael McDowell has promised to publish as much as possible of the report of the committee that investigated allegations that the Gardai had prior information about the Omagh bombing.
The Minister said some parts of that report could not be published for security reasons, but he said that he would make a statement to the Dail about it.
And he insisted there was no truth to the claims that a deal had been done, between a Government minister and the Real IRA.
