Gardai have named the teenager who died after being stabbed in Coolock in North Dublin last night. He was 17 year old Alan Higgins from the Donnahies in Donaghmede.
The boy was stabbed near a cinema complex in Coolock at around eleven o'clock last night and and died a few hours later at Beaumont Hospital. It's believed the incident revolved around a dispute concerning a mobile phone.
In a separate incident, a 32-year-old man was stabbed in the Fatima Mansions area in the south of the city ar three o'clock this morning. He was admitted to hospital where he died shortly afterwards.
Gardai have begun murder investigations following the two fatal stabbings . No motive is known as yet for either killing. Both scenes have been preserved and the state pathologist will visit them later today.
Following a third stabbing last night, a man was arrested and is being detained at Kilmainham Garda Station. The stabbing happened in an appartment in James Court, Echlin Street, Dublin at 11pm on Saturday October 12th.
The injured man was stabbed in the chest and is being treated in St James Hospital where his condition is described as stable.
