Hungarian writer wins Nobel Literature prize

Hungarian novelist Imre Kertesz has been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The Auschwitz survivor was praised in the Academy's citation for writing that "upholds the fragile experience of the individual against the barbaric arbitrariness of history".

He will take home the prize money of 10m kronor, the equivalent of €1.10m.
