Ray Burke, No comment on findings
Speaking to RTÉ's Western Correspondent Jim Fahy, Mr Ahern said Ray Burke had assured him on a number of occasions that there were no difficulties in his past.
The Taoiseach said he would not have appointed Mr Burke to his Cabinet if he had known then what he knows now.
Earlier today, Ray Burke refused, on the basis of legal advice, to comment on the findings of the interim Flood report which found that he had accepted a number of corrupt payments throughout his career.
However, he said he looked forward to the opportunity to speak in the future.
