Richard Armitage, Talks with Musharraf
Richard Armitage, the US Deputy Secretary of State, was speaking in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, today after a meeting with President Pervez Musharraf.
Mr Armitage is visiting the region to try to ease tensions over Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
Shortly before his arrival ten Muslim villagers were killed in attacks by militants in Kashmir. Earlier Pakistan claimed that India had attacked a Pakistani army post in the territory.
This claim was dismissed by a senior Indian diplomat, Ronin Ren, who also insisted that Pakistan was still supporting the infiltration of militants.
