Priest questioned over abuse allegations

Gardaí have confirmed that a Catholic priest in County Wexford has been questioned about allegations of child sex abuse.

The priest, who is understood to be in his fifties, was arrested at his parochial home last Tuesday morning and was later released without charge.

A file on the case is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It is understood the priest was questioned about allegations of sexual abuse in the 1980s made by two brothers who were teenagers at the time.

A spokesperson said that the priest is currently not in Ministry.
