O'Dea to hold talks in traveller pub row

listen

The Minister of State, Willie O'Dea, has called on both the Vintners' Federation and Traveller groups to refrain from using inflammatory language in the dispute over serving travellers in pubs.

Mr O'Dea is expected to meet representatives of both sides to discuss the row tomorrow.

This morning, the Council for Civil Liberties accused the vintners of trying to undermine the Equal Status Act by threatening a blanket ban on serving travellers unless or until the law was amended.
