The Vintners' Association of Ireland has expressed its full support for publicans in Westport, County Mayo, who are refusing to serve members of the travelling community.

A number of publicans in the town made the decision in protest at a number of incidents in which - they claim - members of the travelling community were involved.
Last week the Junior Minister at the Department of Justice expressed concern at the move which he said was a deliberate breach of the Equal Status Act.
