Earthquake rocks Indonesian island of Sulawesi

A strong earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale rocked the central part of Indonesia's Sulawesi island around 1am this morning.

The tremor was felt in the three main towns in the province although the epicentre was located 100 kilometres under the sea bed.

There were no reports of damage or casualties.
