Several events have been held in Dublin to mark Bloomsday, the day - June 16th, 1904 - on which James Joyce set his masterpiece 'Ulysses'.

A Bloomsday breakfast was held at the James Joyce Centre in North Great George's Street, where Joyce fans dressed in Edwardian costume gathered for readings and performances of extracts from Ulysses.

An event was also held in Sandycove, attended by the Spanish Ambassador - celebrations there included readings at the Martello tower, where the opening scene of Ulysses is set, and an interruption to watch the Ireland-Spain match.

Bloomsday is celebrated in over 60 countries.
