Euro climbs above 95 US cents, Steady rise against the dollar
The single European currency hit a high point of 95.03 US cents, before slipping back slightly to 94.96.
The euro has risen steadily against the dollar since the start of the year following concern about prospects for growth of the US economy, corporate profits and share prices, and in response to a rise in the US current account deficit.
These factors have caused the dollar to fall.
