In the Netherlands, thousands of mourners lined the streets of Rotterdam to watch the funeral procession of murdered right wing political leader Pim Fortuyn.
Funeral cortege Thousands lined the route of the assassinated politician's funeral
He was shot dead on Monday and had been due to lead his controversial anti-immigration party into next week's general election.
Along the route thousands of people applauded and threw flowers as the cortege passed.
A religious service, conducted by the Bishop of Rotterdam, was held in the city's Roman Catholic cathedral.
