Galway electronics plant to shed jobs

One of the country's biggest US owned electronics companies, APC, is to lay off an unspecified number of workers at its plants in Galway and Castlebar.

One of the country's biggest US owned electronics companies, APC, is to lay off an unspecified number of workers at its plants in Galway and Castlebar. The company told RTÉ News that it is seeking voluntary redundancies at both locations.

The American Power Conversion Corporation came to Galway seven years ago and went into production in the former Digital Computer Plant. The company employs about 650 people at its Galway plant and another 150 at smaller plants in Castlebar and Dublin.
