US reviews security of diplomats in Pakistan
Saturday, 23 March 2002 15:07The United States has ordered the departure of non-essential personnel and the families of all diplomats from its posts in Pakistan. The move follows a security review in the wake of last weekend's bombing of a church in Islamabad which killed five people, including the wife and daughter of an American diplomat.
It is reported that the Secretary of State, Colin Powell. has assured President Pervez Musharraf that the move does not reflect a lack of confidence in Pakistan's ability to protect American diplomatic staff.
