Blanchardstown,Couple found dead in flat
Gardaí are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman whose bodies were found in a flat in Blanchardstown in west Dublin last night. The bodies of the couple, a man and a woman in their early 20s, were discovered in the apartment at Snugborough Road in Blanchardstown just after 7pm last night.
A family member alerted the Gardaí and the fire service. The fire service determined that there had been a fire in the kitchen. It appears to have extinguished itself due to a lack of oxygen.
The man and the woman were found in separate rooms and their bodies remained at the scene overnight, pending a preliminary examination by the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison.
A three-year-old boy was not in the apartment at the time because he was being looked after by a friend. The deaths appear to have been accidental, but Gardaí cannot say for sure at this stage. They are awaiting the results of post mortems, which are due to be carried out later today.
