The man charged with the murder of two teenagers on the Isle of Man has been remanded in custody by the Douglas Court. Peter Newbery, of Willaston Crescent, Douglas, is accused of strangling Samantha Barton and George Green.
The bodies of the 16-year-olds were found near each other on the island the week before last. Samantha Barton, originally from Ireland, was found dead at the Leece Lodge care home on 8 February. The body of her friend George Green was found the following day, in bushes a quarter of a mile away.
Today in court, there was no application for bail, and Newbery was remanded in custody until 15 March.
