Waterford County Council has said that test results from samples of material taken from the perimeter of a landfill site at Tramore show no evidence of toxic material. This indicates that no toxicity has spread beyond the site.
A spokesman said that samples from inside the Tramore site are due to be tested by the Environmental Protection Agency tomorrow. Waterford County Council launched an investigation after the EPA confirmed that a toxic compound was found at a container cleaning company at Waterford's Belview Harbour.
RTÉ News later established that some effluent from the site went to the landfill at Tramore.
