The Taoiseach has said that a lot of pressure had been put on the British authorities to secure information about the Dublin and Monaghan bombings of 1974.
However, Mr Ahern said told the Dáil Mr Justice Henry Barron, who is chairing the Commission of Inquiry into the bombings, had had a good meeting with the Northern Secretary, John Reid, who had agreed to supply information "within weeks".
In reply to Deputy Tony Gregory, who asked why the information had not been supplied before, Mr Ahern said that it had been a grave disappointment that this had not happened and it took a direct meeting with the British Prime Minister to get some movement.
