Hamid Karzai,"Afghans know the pain of the American people"
Hamid Karzai today visited Ground Zero in New York, where he assured Americans he shared their pain. Afghanistan's interim leader appealed to the United Nations to expand an international security force now patrolling only the Afghan capital.
Mr Karzai, laying a wreath at the devastated site of the World Trade Centre, said Afghans "know the pain of the American people better than all other people because they have lost exactly in the same way".
