Child murder trial begins at Central Criminal Court

A 20-year-old man has gone on trial at the Central Criminal Court charged with murdering his 17-month-old nephew.

A 20-year-old man has gone on trial at the Central Criminal Court charged with murdering his 17-month-old nephew. David Brennan of Marsh Road in Drogheda denies murdering Jack Brennan between February 29 and March 1 2000.

The child's body was discovered in a pool in a quarry. David Brennan admitted choking the child. A jury of eight men and four women was told that the issue they have to decide is whether the accused was sane or insane at the time of the killing.
