Hijacked truck involved in serious road accident

watch

A woman is seriously ill in hospital after her car was involved in a collision with a truck. The truck had been hijacked by an armed man.

Gardaí say that the articulated lorry, carrying vending machines, was hijacked in Dublin City Centre last night. The truck was driven to Monaghan town where the driver was released.

The cab of the truck, which was no longer carrying its load, was later spotted by Gardaí, who followed it. However, the truck and the car collided at Cashel, in County Monaghan, and the woman was seriously injured.
