Man dies after truck crashes into petrol station

A man was killed when an articulated truck crashed into the forecourt of a petrol station in County Cork.

A man was killed when an articulated truck crashed into the forecourt of a petrol station in County Cork.

Gardaí said that the accident happened at the Welcome Inn Bar at Ballineen, on the main Bandon to Dunmanway road, at around 11.30am today.

It is understood a truck carrying sugar beet crashed into petrol pumps in the forecourt of the pub, killing a man making deliveries to the shop in his van.

Emergency services at the scene and the road has been closed. All traffic travelling west is being directed through Clonakilty. Gardaí said that the situation had the potential to be much worse.
