Liechtenstein has become the latest European country to move towards full rights for gay couples. A draft law, which would give gay couples the same tax, residence, and insurance status as married people, has been approved by parliament, and is now waiting for ratification.
A proposal that they also be allowed to adopt children and have test-tube children was not passed. The law was inspired by a similar one under consideration in Switzerland since mid-November.
Similar laws have been in place in Iceland and the Scandinavian countries for around a decade, and more recently in the Netherlands, France, and Germany.
