A ruling that David Trimble acted illegally in banning Sinn Féin ministers from attending cross-border meetings has been upheld. The High Court ruling was upheld in the Appeals Court in Belfast this morning.

The Ulster Unionist leader imposed the sanction on Martin McGuinness and Bairbre de Brún last year in an attempt to force IRA disarmament.

Sinn Féin had the ban declared illegal in the Belfast High Court in January.
