The RUC is continuing to question a man arrested in Belfast in connection with pipe bomb offences.

The RUC is continuing to question a man arrested in Belfast in connection with pipe bomb offences. The man was arrested in the Loyalist Shankill Road area of the city. He was detained in a police operation to clampdown on Loyalist pipe bomb attacks on Nationalist homes in the city.

In a separate incident, a number of people were evacuated from their homes in Derry today following the discovery of a pipe bomb. The bomb was discovered at the rear of a house in Shearwater Way in the Waterside area of the city.

British Army bomb disposal experts defused the device. The attack follows yesterday's statement from the Loyalist Red Hand Defenders that they would continue to target Nationalist homes as long as Republicans attacked Loyalists.
