Irish G8 summit protester to be released

The Irishman who was detained after the G8 protests in Genoa three weeks ago is set to be released tomorrow afternoon.

Joe Moffat from Drimnagh in Dublin was taken into custody by Italian police as he prepared to return home, because he was allegedly carrying a Swiss Army Knife.

He was charged with being in possession of a lethal weapon, and was held in custody while a forensic examination was carried out on the knife.

Mr Moffat is due to arrive back in Dublin tomorrow evening.
