A 36-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing before Belfast Magistrates Court this morning. The man was charged with withholding information on the murder of Gavin Brett, the 18-year-old Protestant man who was shot dead on Sunday night.
Kenneth Wallace, of Pine Wood Avenue, Carrickfergus, County Antrim, will appear at Newtownabbey Magistrates Court on 16 August.
Loyalist paramilitary group, the Red Hand Defenders, claimed responsibility for the fatal gun attack on Mr Brett. The group is believed to be a cover for name for the UDA and the LVF.
The teenager had been standing with a group of Catholic friends near the entrance to a GAA club at Hightown Road in Glengormley when he was shot dead. Police believe that he was killed in the belief that he was also a Catholic.
A second man has been released without charge. The two men were arrested yesterday.
