Jeffrey and Mary Archer
Jeffrey Archer has been returned to Belmarsh Prison after attending his mother's funeral. Mr Archer had been freed briefly to allow him attend the funeral. His mother died during his Old Bailey trial. The funeral came two days after Mr Archer was jailed for four years for perjury and perverting the course of justice.
The disgraced peer was driven from the prison in Southeast London to a crematorium in Cambridge. Lord Archer was joined by his wife Mary and their two sons. After the cremation service he was driven to his home in Granchester where he was accompanied by prison officers and plain clothes policemen.
He was allowed to remain at his home until after the memorial service. Mr Archer's mother was 87.
