O'Brien criticises recommendation of Valentia bid for Eircom

The head of the eIsland Group has criticised the decision of the Eircom board to recommend the take-over by rival group Valentia.

Denis O'Brien said that he thinks the smaller shareholder in Ireland has been disenfranchised by. He said that, in his experience, the highest price normally won. He said that, in this case, the board of Eircom had given an assurance that this would occur.
