A plane carrying Ronald Biggs, a fugitive from justice for 35 years, took off from Rio de Janeiro tonight to take the train robber home to certain arrest in Britain. The 71-year-old fugitive, who escaped after being jailed for his part in the 1963 great train robbery has been eager to return home from Brazil after suffering at least two debilitating strokes. British police have said that they would arrest him on arrival. Biggs was part of a gang that stole £2.6 million from a Glasgow-to-London mail train in 1963.
